New Zealand National Airways Corporation’s Heron was registered as ZK-BBM on 19 December 1952 and was flown to New Zealand in April 1953. Named ‘Matapouri’, a small blackish diving duck, the Heron served the NAC until sold to Fiji Airways in 1960. Initially registered there as VQ-FAY, changed to DQ-FAY after Fiji’s independance. In November 1975 the Heron returned for service by Air North, operating from Rotorua. ZK-BBM was withdrawn from use in 1993.
