Earliest existing Gloster Meteor in the UK. Used for trials until 1953, when taken out of service. Acquired in June 1973 by Midland Aircraft Preservation Society [forerunner of the Midland Aircraft Museum]. Assembled periodically by MAPS members at various sites around the Midlands before being displayed, outside, at the newly-created MAM. Later restored and displayed in their Sir Frank Whittle Jet Heritage Centre. Photographed when temporarily displayed at the, then closed, Gloster Aircraft's experimental design office and factory at Bentham, where she was built.
