Built for the USAAF as C-47A 42-92458 but delivered to the US Navy as R4D-5 17126 in 1944. Transferred to the Civil Aeronautics Administration in 1955 as N3458G, it was redesignated as an EC-47H in 1962 and registered to the FAA as N41 in 1966, changing to N23 in 1974. It was registered to the US Department of Agriculture in 1975, initially as as N87788 then N2001J and lastly in 1976 as N224GB. It was acquired by Lee County Mosquito Control District in January 1981 and was noted parked out of service at Buckingham Field in 1985, and is thought to have been broken up there in 2008 but its derelict cockpit section lives on at Punta Gorda-Shell Creek Airpark, FL.
