Owned by Gp Capt Wheeler of Shuttleworth Trust fame and operated as an air racer. 1953 seems to be the only year G-AISU carried the race number 40. The coloured band round the rear fuselage may be Racing Colours; since similar bands appear on other racing aircraft of those years. G-AISU was damaged in a heavy landing at Kingâs Cup Air Race 1953 at SEN. It went to Vickers-Armstrong for repair and was sold to them in 1955 when in adopted its military markings AB910.
