16-12-1988 a shrimp trawler returned to port with the middle part of the fuselage and the wings in the trawl net. The remains were taken to the museum. It was a Bf 109 coded Black 6 of 2 Staffel of Jagdgeschwader 5. It had crashed 11.10.1943 8 miles NW of Egersund. The pilot baled out after an engine fire while on a technical test flight. He was taken to the Stavanger hospital with minor injuries. Source museum website where details of the restoration can be found.
