The MJ271 was built in 1943 and flew 51 combat missions during WWII. After the war, the aircraft was delivered to the Dutch Air Force, where MJ271 was active until 1954. In 1959, the aircraft came to the museum in Delfzijl, where it was exhibited on the roof of the building. Here the aircraft stood until 1973 when it was moved to the Anthony Fokker Technical School in The Hague to be restored for exhibition use. In 2006 ARCo bought the aircraft and brought it to Duxford in England where it was put into storage. After 3 years of restoration, MJ271 flew again on 27 June 2019 with John Romain at the helm. The aircraft was given the civil registration G-IRTY. On August 5, 2019, MJ271 began an epic flight around the world. 122 days later, the 76-year-old plane was back in England again after 43,000 kilometers and more than 20 countries visited. In April 2021, MJ271 was sold to Blackbird Air in Denmark, which is owned by, among others, Anders Holch Povlsen. MJ271 flew publicly for the first time in Denmark on 18-19 June 2021 in connection with the Danish Air Show in Karup.
