After use by Rolls-Royce as the RB-211 testbed it was found to have a distorted airframe and was uneconomic to repair. It was left to moulder at Kemble where it was used as a spares source for the RAF fleet, and for training by the SAS hence the unusual damage. Ultimately it was scrapped on site.
