Previously on the UK register from 15 May 1939 to 24 Nov 1942. It was then flown by Australian Sidney Cotton on clandestine photo-reconnaissance sorties over Germany before the 2nd World War using hidden cameras. On 24 Aug 1939 it was the last British aircraft to leave Germany before the outbreak of war, but continued to fly photo-recce sorties over France during the âPhoney Warâ. It was damaged by an aerial mine dropped on Heston Aerodrome on 19 Sep 1940 then shipped back to the Lockheed factory at Burbank for repair. Over the years, it has been registered as NC16077, G-AFTL, VP-TAI, N1161V and N12EJ, and was once owned by Art Scholl.
