On 08/09/1972 De Havilland DH82A VH-AQL departed on a flight from Cambridge, Tasmania, to Canberra, ACT, Australia. The aircraft, flown by Max Price with passenger Brenda Hean, were on their way to sky write "Save Lake Pedder" above Australia's Parliament building in support of saving the original Lake Pedder in Tasmania's South west prior to the building of 3 dams to support the Hydro-Electric Scheme, The aircraft disappeared and no trace has ever been found. The aircraft was last seen flying past the Eddystone Point Lighthouse on the east coast of Tasmania on the way to Flinders Island. This year (2022) a tribute flight took place, leaving Cambridge Airport on Tuesday 06/09/2022 in remembrance of the 1972 flight.
