Seen on final approach to RWY 28. Built 1944 as a Canadian Vickers Canso, but designated PBY-5A Catalina by the RDAF. Ex R.Canadian AF #11034. To danish military 1947. L-853 crashed 11/12/1969, while training water landings at sea. On 2nd landing, the plane hit the water in a side-slipping nose down attitude. The front section of the fuselage separated from the rest of the plane, and the plane sank quickly. The co-pilot, who flew the plane from the left seat, was killed. The other 5 crew members and the 2 passengers escaped the plane and were rescued.
