The prototype Leopard Moth G-ACHD had it's standard Gipsy Major 4-cylinder engine replaced by the more powerful 230hp Gipsy Six R (with constant speed propeller) by Airwork while Joe Connolly was with them in 1939 and received the experimental marks E4 whilst a test-bed.
