First flown at Chester 27 April 1970 and operated at Hatfield in unpainted state for trials of the Flight Inspection System. Returned to Chester 7 November 1970 for painting, flying again December 1970. Delivered to the South African Department of Civil Aviation 13 January 1971 and based at Hatfield for crew training. Departed 9 February and re-registered ZS-CAL on arrival in South Africa.
