The gentleman in the picture is John Howard Duart. He gained his pilot A licence flying Gipsy Moths with the Eastbourne Aero Club at Wilmington in 1938. He flew as the Gunnery Leader of 219 Squadron (Blenheims) in the Battle of Britain, later as radar operator in 219 Sqdn beaufighters. He retired from the RAF as a Flight Lieutenant in 1945 and passed away at 101 in 2007. Photograph courtesy of Miss Pauline Duart.
