De Havilland DH.60 Moth Replica, SE-AMO, is the result of a restoration project commenced by G H B Blomstrand in 1991 and completed in 2006 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MBtQqCB35F8). The Replica is a composite of DH.60M Moth SE-ABY, DH.83 Fox Moth, SE-AFL, and various parts and components from a least two other aircraft, and also the reason why the project number â884â assigned by EAA Sweden in November 1991, was also adopted as its construction number by the Swedish CAA. SE-AMO has a Cirrus Hermes IIB engine manufactured in 1932 that is believed to have originally powered ASJA Viking I, SE-ACX and subsequently DH.60M Moth, SE-ABY. The EAA Sweden issued the first Permit for Test Flights May, 24, 2006, that was renewed on four occasions before the Moth was entered on the Swedish Civil Aircraft Register, August 21st, 2012 with CofR 8921. In April 2014, it was acquired by SAS pilot, Johan Wiklund, for his âCape to Capeâ adventure in 2015 (capetocape.net) which took him and his Moth from the North Cape to Stockholm in July and continued in September from Stockholm to the Cape of Good Hope, arriving at Stellenbosch in South Africa on October 25, 2015.
