This aircraft was originally built in 1984 by the East Tennessee Pilots Club and registered as N19SR. In 1990 it was involved in a water landing and was sold as salvage to Ira Lyn Holmes of Tennessee in 2002. Mr. Holmes completely rebuilt and recovered the aircraft and the engine was completely overhauled. During the next 6 years the aircraft was hangared and flew a total of 5 hours until it was bought by Andy Duncan of Oregon. The plane was ferried to Oregon, and, under the guidance of "Mr. Starduster" Dave Baxter of St. Helens, Oregon, was thoroughly overhauled throughout, a new panel and avionics installed, and the starburst painted on the wings and tail feathers Application for a new airworthiness certificate was made and the aircraft was re-certified as N321DC in September 2008. Andy Duncan flew it frequently around the western United States totaling some 230 hours until it was sold to Jack Donsen of Perth, Australia in October 2011. Jack shipped the plane to Bindoon, registered it as VH-CUX and it has been flying in Western Australia ever since. This Starduster was a beautiful aircraft with very stable flying characteristics, but like most taildraggers, it is a bit of a handful on the ground requiring "flying until a full stop". Andy said that flying the Starduster was, by far, the most fun he had ever had flying an airplane . . . "Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth, and danced the skies on laughter silvered wings . . . . .
