The Bücker Bü 181 had its maiden flight 1939 and became the standard primary trainer for the Luftwaffe. It was produced in Germany by Bücker, in Netherland by Fokker, in Czechovakia by Zlin and in Sweden by Hägglund & Söner AB. In the 1950s the Heliopolis Aircraft Works produced 300 or more under the designation Gomhouria. The Mk 6 was povered by a Continental O-300.
