Wingtip Magnetic Anomaly detection aerials. Date of image is unknown. From a correspondent - In an article, 'There is still fun in flying', in the December, 27th, 1962 edition of Flight International, Noel J Capper, Chief Pilot, Scottish Aviation, relates the story of delivering a Twin Pioneer from Prestwick to Philadelphia departing Prestwick on Mon 20 Aug 1962. The Twin Pioneer was Constructor Number 505, previously registered as G-AOER belonging to Rio Tinto Finance & Exploration Co., London. The 'change of ownership' is recorded by UK CAA on G-INFO as 26AUG62. Capper indicates that C/N 505 had been sold to a United Nations Organisation and was being delivered by Scottish Aviation, under contract to an unknown party, to Aero Services in Philadelphia. Other contemporaneous material shows that 505 was used by the UN to undertake geographical work in Mexico displaying the registration marks XC-CUJ. After passing through a number of owners it was operated by Air North and perished in Alaska in 1978/79
