On 27th March 1977 this aircraft collided with Pan Am 747 N636PA in fog at Tenerife. In what remains the worlds aviation disaster 583 people lost their lives caused when this aircraft initiated a take off due to a misunderstanding as the other was still taxiing down the runway.
