Records show that this aircraft was sold to France in 1994 where it became F-AZIP wearing code '318'. Photos on the internet show a Stearman with those marks, but the FAA records show that N58712 is still current. When 58712 was released from the Army in 1946 the Army provided an incorrect serial number. There is a letter in the aircraft records detailing this and correcting the serial number. The aircraft in France is not 75-341 and likely missing the correction letter from the Army.
