First flight June 29 2004, delivered Southwest Airlines July 14 as N471WN. On December 8 2005 while completing flight WN1248 from Baltimore to Chicago with 98 passengers and 5 crew on board, a/c overshot Midway Airport RWY 31C on landing. The late touchdown in a severe weather followed by a huge mistake, deploying the thrust reversers late, causing the a/c tore through the blast fence and the perimeter fence as well, slid off the main road, where collided vehicles. Finally came to rest on the corner of South Central Avenue and W 55th Street. A six-year-old boy in one of the vehicles has died as a result of injuries sustained. Repaired shortly after the accident and re-registered as N286WN September 1 2006. This picture is dedicated to the young victim.
