First flight October 11 2003 with Airbus Industrie F-WWKS test registration. Delivered QANTAS October 31 as VH-QPA. On October 7 2008 with 303 passengers and 12 crew on board -QPA was involved in a serious flight incident while completing flight QF72 from Singapore to Perth. Due to multiple and severe flight control problems â autopilot disconnection, steep auto-descents etc. â the flight declared mayday and completed successful emergency landing in Learmonth Airport, Western Australia, while 110 passengers and 9 crew members were injured due to the incident, 12 of them seriously. The aircraft sustained minor damage, which later was repaired.
