In 1944 Republic commenced building copies of the Fi-103, with the Ford Motor Company making the engine, which was in turn a copy of the Argus 014 Pulsejet. The resulting JB-2 âLoonâ or âThunderbugâ was the first U.S. guided missile. This example is now preserved in Wheaton, MN. A total of 1391 were built and were in service 1945 - 1950.
