The French aircraft maker S.A. des Etablissements Nieuport delivered a new monoplane, the IV G, to the Swedish Army in 1912 with a 50 hp Gnome engine. The aircraft was upgraded after a year with a 70 hp engine and got the designation ”M 1” (Monoplane No. 1). M 1 made its last flight at the 50th anniversary of the Swedish Army Aviation in 1962.
