A translation of the info plaque attached to the S-2 "The first two S-2A Tracker aircraft transferred to our inventory from the Netherlands Navy, were flown to Etimesgut by American pilots on 28th July 1971. Turkish naval aviation had received the aircraft they had been waiting longingly for since 1947. 4 S-2A Trackers and 30 S-2E's were entered into the Navy's inventory. 1 S-2A and 6 S-2E aircraft were withdrawn from service due to various accidents. The remaining S-2E planes in the inventory were withdrawn from service on 25th June 1995. During the Cyprus Peace Operation all the S-2E aircraft were based in the Mediterranean, carried out 66 surveillance sorties and flew 339.15 hours."
