This HS748 is the latest arrival with the Speke Aerodrome Heritage Group and joins their small collection of airliners displayed on the original Liverpool (Speke) Airport apron. Built in 1961 she made her first flight on the 19th May 1962 before delivery to Aerolineas Argentinas as LV-PUF arriving in Argentina on the 5th June. She was re-registered as LV-HHE on the 13th June prior to entering service with the airline the following day. Named "Ciudad de Resistencia" (City of Resistance), she remained in service with the airline until the 18th April 1975, when she was transferred to the Argentine state-owned petrol company Yacimientos Petroliferos Fiscales. The following year she was sold to Dan-Air, arriving back in the UK on the 24th December 1976, and registered G-BEJD. She entered service on the 8th March 1977. Early in 1987 she was converted to carry cargo re-entering service on the 31 March. On the 15th July 1992, all of Dan-Airs fleet of six 748s were acquired by Janes Aviation later renamed Emerald Airways). The airline operated contract and ad hoc freight services throughout the UK and Europe for postal, newspaper and freight companies, sadly they ceased operations on the 12th May 2006. Until her recent move to Speke "Juliet Delta" had been in open storage at Blackpool Airport and was facing an uncertain future. Although looking decidedly sorry for herself, she has escaped the scrap merchants, for now at least.
