The pilot is the late Wg/Cdr M J Edwards, wartime Spitfire pilot who had been CFI of the Hereford Flying Club at the Hereford Racecourse aerodrome post war. He started the club at Shobdon and was for many years up to 1981 CFE of Midland Aviation Centre at Halfpenny Green.
