This aircraft was involved in an unusual incident on 2/2/70. During a training mission it entered a flat spin, forcing the pilot to eject. Unpiloted, the aircraft recovered on its own and miraculously made a gentle belly landing in a snow-covered field in Montana. After minor repairs, the aircraft was returned to service. It was moved to the USAF Museum in August 1986.
