Photo by the late Peter Hewins. Converted to an AC-47D - written off 1 Sept 1969, it launched from Bien Hoa on a night patrol mission & was directed to assist friendly troops who were under enemy attack 20 miles east of Bien Hoa. Arrived at the scene & started firing, was subsequently hit in the starboard wing & engine by ground fire & crashed on the side of Nui Loc Su mountain. The entire USAF crew of 8 were KIA.
