From the late Charles H Phillips collection by kind permission of his Grand Daughter Lyn. The original Splott Aerodrome was opened in September 1931, later changing its name to Cardiff Municipal Airport. The early facilities were a few wooden huts. To protect the grass strip from flooding from the nearby estuary a sea wall was built
