Heathrow in its infancy! The Gull was cancelled in July 1952, as "sold abroad". Additional information. This aircraft was purchased new by Alex Henshaw, pre war record breaker and wartime Spitfire chief test pilot at Vickers Armstrong's factory at Castle Bromwich. He and his father did a survey flight to and from South Africa in it before he made his record flight there and back in his Percival Mew Gull.
