Photographed in the static display at Air Fete 92 this brand new Strike Eagle was the very first F-15E to be delivered to the 48th Fighter Wing based at RAF Lakenheath. The 48th FW is now the only F-15 wing in Europe, and is called 'The Liberty Wing', it is the only USAF unit with both a name and a numerical designation. This Strike Eagle is painted in special markings for the 48th Commanding Officer, with the black 'LN' tail code highlighted in white, with the last two digits of the serial enlarged and followed by 'FW' in the same style. She arrived in Europe on the 19th February 1992 after crossing the Atlantic direct from the factory at St Louis, Missouri to Bitburg AB, Germany using callsign 'Retro 11'. She then completed her delivery to Lakenheath shortly after using callsign 'Duster 21'. She is shown here carrying a mixed load of inert Mk-82 500lb bombs and AIM-9M Sidewinder air-air missiles.
