17981 A unique aircraft even for an SR-71. Started life as the first YF-12A 60-6934 (c/n 1001) during an aborted attempt at a speed record it was involved in a "runway incident" causing damage. It was then converted using an engineering mock up forward fuselage and flew as the SR-71C 61-7981 (c/n 2032) 14/3/1969. Then used as a crew trainer but only flew 555 hours.
