Photographed in the static display during Air Tournament International 92 at Boscombe. This Alizé (French for 'Tradewind') was based at Lorient Lann-Bihoué in Brittany with 4F. This squadron first received the Alizé in February 1960 replacing TBM Avengers. Used in the Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) role the Alizé had a long and successful career, deploying operationally during the first Gulf War aboard the aircraft carrier Clemenceau during Operation Salamandre. Interestingly, for this operation Clemenceau had her catapults removed, the Alizé being able to be launched without them. The squadron temporarily disbanded during the summer of 1997 pending the arrival of the Grumman E-2C Hawkeye in March 2000.
