The serial number when first registered as 643W and later as NC-643W was simply '23'. When Robert Cansdale applied for N30RC 25 Jun 1957 the application was hand amended to read '301-23' and that stuck with the aircraft ever after. It was never 'A-' as this prefix was not used until A-51.
