Aircraft crashed by my late father in law whilst he was testing the engine after maintenance. He was LAC Ken Boothman. He survived the crash. Actual serial unknown looks like BG744. Code appears to be YE-Y. This code was used by 289 Squadron based at Turnhouse but with detachments at various airfields in southern Scotland at this period (Halley). They flew Hurricanes, whilst 4 (O) AFU, based at West Freugh, is not listed as using the type (Sturtivant page 40).
