Part of the 'Tiger Meet 91' static display at IAT91, this Hornet comes from 439 Squadron based at the time at Baden-Soellingen as part of Canada's contribution to NATO in Europe. The squadron disbanded as a fighter squadron at Baden-Soellingen on the 15th May 1993 but was later reactivated as 439 Combat Support Squadron at Bagotville flying the CT-133 Silver Star and CH-146 Griffon. After the Silver Stars were retired they continued operating the Griffon which they still fly today. The 439 Squadron crest depicts a Sabre-Toothed Tiger, and the Squadron's motto is also ever so subtle being 'Fangs of Death'!
