This Aeronautica Militare Atlantic was photographed arriving at IAT94 from her home base at Cagliari-Elmas, Sardinia. Eighteen Atlantics were puchased by Italy in 1972 for use in the Maritime Patrol mission, they are flown by Aeronautica Militare crews but commanded by the Marina Militare. This aircraft was later oprated by 41º Stormo 88º Gruppo based at Sigonella, Sicily coded 41-01. It was announced in December 2008 that the Atlantic was to be replaced in Italian Air Force service by four ATR72MP aircraft to be delivered from 2012.
