Colourful close-up view of Air Namibia's 'Etosha' taken sometime in late 1997. Originally delivered to South African Airways on the 13 January 1977 as ZS-SPF, she later saw service on various leases with Luxair, Air Mauritius as 3B-NAO, UTA as LX-LGY, Namib Air and Air Namibia, before returning to her original identity with South African. Whilst operating a flight for Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique - LAM, she was written-off at Maputo, on the 5 October 1998 after suffering an uncontained failure of the no. 3 engine after take-off on a flight to Lisbon. Debris caused damage to the no. 4 engine and the wing. Fire broke out which the crew couldn't extinguish, so an emergency landing at Maputo was carried out but she was damaged beyond repair.
