The F-86H was the fighter-bomber version and the last Sabre built without being equipped with a radar. They were equipped with the M-1 Low Altitude Bombing System (LABS) and could be armed with a 1,200lb 'special store' (a euphemism for a nuclear weapon) under the port wing, 473 of this variant were built and they served with 5 USAF wings. The operational life of the F-86H was, however, quite short, as the aircraft's performance was rapidly being eclipsed by types such as the F-100 Super Sabre. By June 1958 all of the USAF's F-86Hs had been handed over to the Air National Guard. Photographed with her naval 'sister', the FJ-4B Fury parked beside her. She wears the markings of the 474th Fighter Bomber Wing, based at Clovis AFB, New Mexico. She is displayed at Pima courtesy of the National Museum of the United States Air Force, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.
