Named 'The Lone Star Lady' after the home-state of her former base, Carswell AFB, Texas. She is a B-52D-20BW, the BW indicating that she was built at the Boeing factory in Wichita, Kansas. She is a genuine Vietnam War veteran having taken part in the 'Linebacker II' bombing raids against targets in North Vietnam during December 1972. Using the callsign 'Brick 2', she was hit by anti-aircraft fire on 22 December whilst on a bombing mission to attack Kinh No and Gia Lam, she was holed in nineteen places but managed to land safely at U-Tapao AB, Thailand. She wears the markings of her last operator the 7th Bombardment Wing and is displayed at Pima courtesy of the National Museum of the United States Air Force, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio. There are not many museums that have (or could accomodate) a B-52, Pima have three, this one plus a NB-52A and a later B-52G. Of further interest in the left foreground of this photograph is a Teledyne Ryan YQM-98A 'Compass Cope' un-manned drone.
