Originally constructed as an F8U-1 but redesignated as an F-8A. She was one of a dozen F-8A's converted to DF-8F standard in 1963 and was used to control remotely controlled aerial targets. She was retired to MASDC as 2F0185 on 7 December 1970. When this photograph was taken she was displayed in the markings of an F-8A of VF-32 'Swordsmen' from the USS Saratoga. She has since been restored to a DF-8F scheme and now wears the markings of VU-8 (Utility Squadron 8) which was based at Roosevelt Roads NAS .
