Photographed during Exercise 'Ample Train' at St Mawgan. This Tornado is an 'Operation Granby' veteran. During the 1991 Gulf War she was based at Muharraq in Bahrain, coded 'N' and originally carried the name 'Nora Batty' on the port side, but was soon renamed 'Nikki'. Painted on the starboard side was 'SNOOPY AIRWAYS' with noseart consisting of Snoopy, complete with leather flying helmet and goggles sitting astride a Laser Guided Bomb. She was later upgraded to GR4 standard but was destroyed when she crashed into the North Sea on 21 July 2004. 27 Squadron relinquished its Tornados in 1993, reforming as 27(Reserve) Squadron, the Chinook and Puma Operational Conversion Unit at RAF Odiham. They regained full squadron status in January 1998 equipped solely with Chinooks.
