Photographed taxying out at Gatwick, this 747 "Classic" was first delivered to American Airlines on 27 November 1970 as N9669. She then passed to National Airlines and Citicorp before becoming G-HIHO on 25 March 1987 with the short-lived Highland Airways. On 8 February 1988 she became VH-EEI with Qantas before being leased out to Air Pacific on 1 April. From 22 March 1990 she was back on the UK register with what would be her final operator, Virgin Atlantic. Initially named 'Miami Maiden', she was re-named 'Spirit of Sir Freddie', in honour of Sir Freddie Laker and his contribution to low-cost trans-Atlantic air travel. She was parted out and scrapped at Kemble in March 2000.
