The Shuttleworth Trust's beautiful Spitfire Vc basking in late afternoon sunshine at Old Warden. Possibly the worlds most original airworthy Spitfire, this Westland-built aircraft was Originally delivered in June 1942 to 8 MU, and saw service with 310, 504 (two days), 312, and 442 Squadrons, followed by a period with 58 and 61 OTU and No 1 Tactical Exercise Unit. In 1946 she was acquired by Loughborough College as an instructional airframe. Obsolete for teaching purposes she was exchanged for a Jet Provost from the Shuttleworth Collection. Restored for the feature film 'The Battle of Britain' she has remained with the Shuttleworth Collection ever since and is currently (March 2009) nearing the end of a major rebuild.
