Displayed alongside the USS Alabama as part of the Battleship Memorial Park in Mobile, Alabama. This CH-21B is painted in USAF Search and Rescue Colours to represent a H-21B. Known as the Shawnee in US Army service they were the workhorse helicopter during the Vietnam war until the arrival of the Bell UH-1. The CH-21 was relatively slow and its cables and fuel lines were very vulnerable to small arms fire. It was even rumored that a CH-21 had been downed by a Viet Cong spear!
