Delivered to the United States Navy as Bu.No. 37444 in May 1945 she was retired from military service in December 1956 with 808 hours 'on the clock'. She was stored with a vast number of other retired military aircraft at Litchfield Park, Arizona during 1950 and '51. She was sold as N7086C in 1957 and converted to a fire bomber by 1961 when she was bought by Larabee & Rabinette and used for aerial firefighting with a fibreglass belly tank. She also served with B&B Flying Service and later D&D Aero. It was rebuilt with a RALCO metal belly tank and in August 1979 registered to RALCO with tanker number 112. She was leased to T & G for the 1981 through '83 fire seasons. In 1985 she was registered to Military Aircraft Restorations Corporation. She last flew in 1986 and was then stored at Chandler for many years. On 10 October 2007 she was sold to William Dietzel of the United States Airpower Museum at Fresno, California.
