This DC-6 was another one ordered by SAS but not taken up. It was delivered to British Commonwealth Pacific Airlines on 17 December 1948. Service with Tasman Empire Airways followed in May 1954 as ZK-BFB (later re-registered as ZK-BGB). In May of 1961 she passed to the Royal New Zealand Air Force as NZ3632. The next three decades saw many changes of owner, Pacific Western Airlines as CF-PWP, Mercer Airlines, Aerial Applications, who converted her for use as a waterbomber, Sis-Q, Macavia, T&G Aviation and Barron Thomas Aviation to name but a few. She was sold to Air Transport Office in Kinchasa, Zaire as 9Q-CPL in 1994. She was re-registered in Liberia as EL-WNH and was allegedly involved in clandestine smuggling flights during the war in the Congo. As of September 2002 she was abandoned at Lanseria, South Africa and has recently been used as a fire trainer. What a career!
