Delivered on 13 June 1947 to United Airlines as N37515 and named "Mainliner Rhode Island". In October 1968 she was sold to Mars Aviation but United repossessed her a few months later. February 1969 saw another change of ownership when she was purchased by Frank V. Amaral, but the next year it was bought by Florida Aircraft Leasing. Changing hands again, two years later, she was bought by Rosenbalm Aviation Inc. Sis-Q Flying Service Inc. bought her on 28 January 1974. Macavia International purchased her in May 1985. N666SQ was stored without much use at Santa Rosa, California before T&G Aviation Inc. bought her in February 1991. Only two years later she was sold again, to Pacific Harbor Capital Inc. November 1993 saw yet another change of ownership, this time Barron Thomas Aviation. In February 1994 Everts Air Fuel Inc. bought her only to store her at Fairbanks, Alaska for use as spare parts.
