Originally ordered by SAS but not taken up this DC-6 was operated by British Commonwealth Pacific as VH-BPH. It also saw service with Air New Zealand as ZK-BFC. Like many other old propliners, conversion to the firebomber role kept her flying through the 1980s. Sadly though, since this photograph was taken she was gradually parted out, fell derelict and has since been scrapped. Somewhat surprisingly though, the cockpit section survives in Finland where one Pekka Kauppi purchased what remained after the scrap men had done their work.
