This F-8A was extensively modified by NASA and redesignated TF-8A to test an experimental Supercritical Wing in place of the conventional wing. The characteristics of the Supercritical Wing reduce the effect of shock waves on the upper surface near Mach 1, in turn reducing drag. This aircraft's Bu.No. is 141353.
